Kilduff Construction

SSG Project Case Study

Kilduff Construction is a Roscommon based building Contractor in existence for over 40 years. Kilduff Construction has built a reputation for excellent craftsmanship, delivering projects on time, being very competitive and very easy to work with.

REQUIREMENT:

Kilduff Construction has had substantial growth in recent years, however, the increasing level of regulation in the building sector is increasing the cost of building new homes.  One prime example of this change was the implementation of the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2013 (BCAR or SI.9) which became effective in March 2014 and which covered the following: -

  • The design and construction process of a new building.
  • The design and construction process of an extension requiring planning permission (generally over 40 square metres or in the case of any protected structure).
  • Any works where a Fires Safety Certificate is required.
  • At the time, experts estimated that compliance with this new regulation could add as much as 2-2.5% to the building cost of a standard home.

Kilduff Construction needed an accounting application that was designed for the Construction Industry that would capture all costs that could then be compared against the budget. This application would have to be able to embrace mobile technology and give management and employees access to information on the move.

The system would have the ability to manage growth which Kilduff Construction are experiencing.

SOLUTION:

In 2016 we installed Advanced Business Manager Accounting with all modules to include Job Costing and Document Scanning.

We created a Database in Advanced Business Manager Accounting, imported the Masterfile data and outstanding transactions and reconciled it to their existing system.

This is a stumbling block for many companies, how do we move to a new system and continue with our day to day business. We take your data and hand it back to you reconciled in Advanced Business Manager Accounting.

We introduced Revenue On-Line Service (ROS) for Sub-contractor claims. A sub-contractor carries out work for 2 weeks costing €20,000. After the two weeks, the Quantity Surveyor will agree the payment with the sub-contractor and provide a cumulative certificate. When this certificate is being paid by Kilduff Construction, Advanced Business Manager Accounting is designed to check through ROS immediately to verify the status of the sub-contractor. They are advised what % RCT needs to be deducted.

We provided single page top end reports providing them with a summary overview of each job which compares cost against budget.  They can immediately identify if there are any cost of overruns and take remedial action. The system also allows for specific reports to be emailed to selected Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Site Managers.

Quantity Surveyors have access to the scanned invoices, delivery dockets and purchase orders directly within the database. This allows them to certify for payment only that work which has been completed.

Kilduff Construction are keeping abreast of technology advances and selected Advanced Business Accounting for their business needs. They provided us with their requirements and we provided the solution.
