Western Forestry

Co-operative Society Ltd.

SSG Project Case Study

Western Forestry Co-operative Society Ltd. has 30 years experience in advising landowners on forestry. The Co-op was established in 1985 by the Dairy Co-operatives in Western Counties in response to a need for support services for landowners considering forestry.

Since that time the Co-op has afforested thousands of acres along the Western seaboard and is the largest and longest established forestry co-operative providing professional forestry services that include forest establishment, forest management planning, harvesting, forest roads and a forest insurance scheme.

The Co-op ethos of strength, transparency and openess are their foundation. The needs of forest owners and the advantages of forestry in rural communities are the foundation of Western Forestry Co-operative Society Ltd. Their team of professional foresters have vast experience in all aspects of forest management and their forestry development advisors are available locally.

Forestry is an ethical investment based upon sustainable forest management techniques that are not only beneficial for the investor, but society as a whole.

REQUIREMENT

To enable Western Forestry Co-operative Society Ltd. to grow Marina Conway had to find a state-of-the-art solution to manage its extensive contact list, the whole forest management process, from marketing and sales through, to planning, planting, thinning and eventual sale of the crop. Western Forestry Co-operative Society Ltd. also provides a forest insurance scheme and there was a requirement to incorporate this into any new solution.

They were managing everything in Microsoft Excel, and it never felt quite right. They needed a system that could not only store, but also disseminate information to their foresters around the country. Emails and documents had to be organised against forests and eventually making them readily available to employees in remote locations was key.

SOLUTION:

Maximizer Contact Relationship Management software – with 1.6 million users worldwide this software is reliable, flexible and quick to deploy.

Western Forestry Co-operative Society Ltd. is the third Irish private forestry industry to introduce Maximizer Contact Relationship Management software into their business.

It is very easy to use and its customisability is a key feature enabling it to meet the challenges of each company.

Western Forestry Co-operative Society Ltd. also provides a forest insurance scheme which was easily built into the database.

Once customisation is complete and when rolled out, the team can see the advantages straight away.
